Freedom of Speech

Notes from the Counsel of Trent's post: "What “freedom of speech” really means" The Constitution makes an efficient goverment. But it could be too efficient by trampling on the citizens. That's why we have the bill of rights. The idea of the First amendment is to respect the individual freedom in order to change and challenge goverment:  Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech , or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Good ideas will rise to the surface when people can freely debate and talk about them. Mistaken ideas of freedom of speech: Mistake #1 :  Everything you say is legal .
