wives and husbands

1 Peter 3 Likewise you wives, be submissive to your husbands, so that some, though they do not obey the word, may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see your reverent and chaste behavior. 3 Let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing of robes, 4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. 5 So once the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves and were submissive to their husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are now her children if you do right and let nothing terrify you. 7 Likewise you husbands, live considerately with your wives, bestowing honor on the woman as the weaker sex, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered. Paul Ephesians 5:21-33 21 Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, be subject ...

Genuflections and Bows (lay people)

Genuflection Genuflection is reserved for: the Most Blessed Sacrament the Holy Cross from the solemn adoration during the liturgical celebration on Good Friday until the beginning of the Easter Vigil. If the tabernacle is in the sanctuary: Ministers genuflect when they approach the altar and when they depart from it, but not during the celebration of Mass itself. ( The Mass begins with the entrance chant/song ) Else (if the tabernacle is not in the sanctuary): Ministers who pass before the Most Blessed Sacrament genuflect, unless they are moving in procession. Therefore: Non-ministers genuflect in adoration to the Most Blessed Sacrament always . A lay person going to the restroom should genuflect before the tabernacle even during Mass because they're not ministers near the sanctuary. During Mass a reader doesn't have to genuflect -- nor bow (see below) -- when approaching the altar area to read. Special case: Ministers carrying the processional cross or candles bow their h...

Abba Father (not daddy)

In the Aramaic language of the time of Jesus, there was absolutely no other word [than Abba] available if Jesus wished to speak of or address God as father. Naturally such speaking of and addressing thereby would lose its special character, for it is then indeed the only possible form! https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/factchecker-does-abba-mean-daddy https://www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/the-divine-intimacy-in-biblical-language

Judas Iscariot

John 6:68-71 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil ?” 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was to betray him. John 12:4-6 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him), said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii[ b ] and given to the poor?” 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief , and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. John 17:12 While I was with them, I kept them in thy name, which thou hast given me; I have guarded them, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition , that the scripture might be fulfilled. Mt 26 The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would h...
